Our philosophy is to make each resident's stay as comfortable as possible and to treat them as we would expect to be trated ourselves.

We observe and maintain our residents' rights of independence, dignity and privacy within the community of our home.

Our staff work together as a team to maintain the highest standards of care, combined with efficiency and friendliness. They give support, help and understanding to our residents and their family at all times.

Location

Wendover is an attractive village which nestles at the foot of the Chiltern hills with various shops and restaurants, a library and good road and rail connections.

Cherry Tree House is situated in a beautiful residential road about a quarter of a mile from the centre of Wendover. Built in the 1960s, it is a light, warm home with a friendly atmosphere and staff. The high quality areas incorporate a TV lounge and a hobby corner. A quiet lounge overlooks a large sunny patio, level secluded gardens and ornamental fish pond and fountain.

Rooms

The rooms are single, varying in size and aspect. They are fitted with TV points, individually controlled central heating and emergency call system. The majority are situated on the ground floor and are decorated to a high standard. They are furnished with fitted carpets, high quality curtains and vanity units.

Residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture to personalise their bedrooms.

Care

An assessment of a new resident's care needs is conducted by our Manager prior to coming to our home.

We continually assess and monitor the care that is needed and this is discussed with the resident, their family and a local GP. Medical cover is provided by the local GP practice who visit when required.

We provide a warm, friendly and caring environment in which to relax and be looked after. Our team of friendly and kind carers are fully trained to care for and support our residents.

We suggest to all new residents a trial period of one month to allow a mutual assessment of suitability.

Features

Cuisine is excellent with three full meals provided daily, based on a high standard of home style cooking with a varied selection of dishes. Residents with special dietary needs may be catered for so far as facilities allow. Daily deliveries of fresh fruit, vegetables and meat are arranged to ensure good nourishing ingredients are used wherever possible.

Family and friends are welcome to visit. Morning coffee and afternoon tea are provided to residents and this service is extended to their visitors.

The home has its own laundry where residents' personal items will be laundered. Dry cleaning can be undertaken by special arrangement and will be charged at cost.

We invite clergy of various denominations from local churches to minister our residents' needs.

Most mornings our Activities Organiser encourages residents to participate in various daily activities.

Registered Providers

Cherry Tree Home is managed by Peter Hall and Ms. Janet Parker, R.G.N., R.M

Ms. Parker and Mr. Hall have each over eighteen years experience of adapting, owning and operating both nursing and residential homes for older people.

Ms. Parker qualified as an R.G.N. in 1975 at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. In 1983, she opened and ran a residential home for the elderly and in 1986 opened Cherry Tree House with Mr. Hall. Ms. Parker is currently Matron/Manager of Cherry Tree House. Her current role consolidates extensive previous experience in the care of the elderly and infirm. Mr. Hall is qualified as a Solicitor and ceased practising in 1990. He has substantial experience of developing and managing different businesses.

Registered Manager

Ms. Parker achieved an NVQ Assessor D32/33. She is commencing work on achieving her Registered Manager's Award.

She has worked with the elderly for approximately twenty years in this area and has worked at Cherry Tree Nursing Home for nearly twelve years as Manager.
