Range of Care Needs

Cherry Tree House will meet Service User Category OP.

Our residents' care needs would range from being reasonbly mobile (some might need the aid of a walking frame), mentally alert and aware of daily events or having mild dimentia or short term memory loss. They may be in need of some assistance with washing and bathing, dressing, nail care, hair washing and day-to-day living requirements. We would aim to care for our residents for the rest of their lives unless the G.P. advises otherwise.

Care Provision

Cherry Tree House is a Care Home only, not providing Nursing Care.

Admission Policy

Residents are usually admitted following an Initial Assessment of their care needs by the Manager or Deputy Manager to ensure that generally the capabilities of the Home can meet the client's care needs.

The Home Manager or Deputy Manager will undertake the Assessment. Usually this will involve meeting the client in his or her own home or current care environment. Family and relevent professionals will be a party to this Assessment or consulted separately if considered necessary or appropriate.

The Assessment will gather information about the prospective client's needs as required in Standard 3.3 and Regulation 14 of the Care Standards Act.

This will enable the Manager to assess whether staff can fully meet the needs of the prospective resident.

All residents are admitted on a trial basis, usually four weeks, but this can be extended.

Social Activities

The Home offers a range of Social Activities that our clients require, including celebration of clients' birthdays, national holidays and outings. Various outside entertainers visit and put on musical entertainment. A member of staff also organises more general activities, card games, quizzes or visits to local places of interest or similar activities.

Resident Consultation

The Home obtains the views of both clients and their families through regular, on going, contact with both parties. Where appropriate, the Home will act on clients' comments and feedback. Questionnaires will be used to ascertain the views of clients, their relatives or others as well as discussion groups or meetings. Clients, relatives and others are encouraged to give input, which is a valuable tool for ongoing improvements. Residents' meetings are held under the Chair of an independent advocate from Age Concern.

Visiting Hours

There are no specific visiting hours. Friends and family are welcome to visit at any approriate time. Residents have the right to refuse to see any visitor, and the person in charge who will inform the visitor of the Residents' wishes will uphold this right. Visitors are to sign in and out of the Visitors' Book at the front door.
